Woodfuel by Treeworks
Using wood for fuel is hardly a new idea, so why the recent surge in interest? With the drive for renewable energy in the UK, woodfuel is experiencing a renaissance providing a real economical alternative to fossil fuels which in turn helps to lower carbon emissions.
Treeworks supply soft and harwood to an ever expanding client base. If you would like to be on our database for fuel logs please get in touch on 01828 686536 or through our contact page.
Four stages to quality woodfuel
- All our logs are cut in winter at 60% moisture content for the next winters use
- The wood is then stacked on a sunny site with good exposure to wind dry until autumn
- The Logs are then cut and split at 20% to 25% moisture, then stored in our custom made vented store bags. These bags allow the air to circulate and continue the drying process. They are also used for delivery. Our drying tunnel allows the moisture to drop even further and the finished logs are stored at 15% and below.
- The finished logs are sold by volume. This allows our clients to have confidence that they have purchased 1m3 of quality seasoned logs per bag.
Hardwood verses Softwood - the debate rumbles on
Good quality seasoned Douglas Fir will produce as much heat as quality Oak or Beech and will season in half the time and can be sold to you at a lower cost than hardwood. We should also consider that our natural sources of hardwood are running out and that softwood grows and becomes available within a 25 year cycle.
Try our softwood and see how quality dried Douglas can deliver the natural heat quality we all strive for. But if you still need hardwood we can also deliver but I am afraid it is more expensive.
See our seasonal rate for woodfuel on our log news page.
